Saints release Kellen Mond and Tommy Kraemer

The Saints have waived quarterback Kellen Mond and offensive lineman Tommy Kraemer, according to the NFL’s daily transaction report. Although the team did not add anyone to the roster, they may do so in the coming days as they prepare for their rookie minicamp this weekend.

Kellen Mond signed with the Saints in mid-April, but his departure was anticipated after the team drafted Spencer Rattler in the fifth round. With five quarterbacks on the roster, the Saints have decided to move forward with Rattler, Jake Haener, and Nathan Peterman behind Derek Carr.

Tommy Kraemer, who appeared in four games for New Orleans last year, had also played nine games with the Lions in 2021. Both players will now be looking for opportunities with other teams in the NFL.

Overall, these moves signal a shifting roster for the Saints as they make room for new additions and evaluate their options heading into the upcoming season. With rookie minicamp around the corner, the team is focused on building a competitive squad for the challenges ahead.
