Herc expands its presence to the East Coast through acquisition of rental business

Herc Rentals, an independent equipment rental company serving key metropolitan markets in the US, has acquired Rental Works of Maryland. The acquisition brings Herc Rentals’ total fleet value to approximately $6.4 billion and adds 11 new locations to its network. Founded in 2007, Rental Works of Maryland operates four branches and was valued at $60 million as of March 31, 2023.

Herc Rentals completed four acquisitions in the first quarter of the year, adding a total of 15 new locations to its existing network. The company’s focus is on enhancing the customer experience, managing fleet efficiency and expenses, and expanding its network through acquisitions and greenfield locations in key markets across North America.

Larry Silber, president and CEO of Herc Rentals, stated that the company is making progress towards its key priorities for 2024. With over 400 locations across North America, Herc Rentals is ranked third on the RER 100 list and reported total revenues of approximately $3.3 billion in 2023. Catalyst Strategic Advisors served as the exclusive transaction advisor to Rental Works of Maryland during the acquisition process.
