Sheboygan’s Young Entrepreneur’s Candy Business Gaining Recognition

11-year-old Truman McNitt is a young entrepreneur with a passion for candy and a drive to succeed. His journey began when his mother bought a cotton candy maker as a fun hobby, sparking his idea to turn it into a business. Today, he is the youngest finalist in the Junior Achievement Young Entrepreneur Competition, making a name for himself statewide.

Truman’s business, Sugar Twist Trinkets, offers a wide variety of cotton candy flavors and even live-spins it at events. Alongside cotton candy, he sells toy slime and freeze-dried candy, which he finds to have a light and crispy texture thanks to the freeze-drying process. His mom, Caitlin Brotz-McNitt, plays an essential role in his business venture by providing guidance, encouragement, and retail space in her store Olivü in downtown Sheboygan.

Truman takes his business seriously and acknowledges the responsibility that comes with being an 11-year-old business owner. He enjoys sampling new products and experimenting with different flavors, finding joy in creating cotton candy and freeze-dried candy. In addition to selling his products at his mom’s store, he also has an online presence where customers can purchase his sweet treats.
