The No. 15 Ohio State women’s basketball team dominated East Carolina 79-55 in the Baha Mar Pink Flamingo Championship. Jacy Sheldon led the way with a standout performance of 20 points, while Taylor Thierry contributed 14 points and eight rebounds. The Buckeyes will now face Oklahoma State in their next game.

Ohio State got off to a flying start, scoring the first 10 points of the game and maintaining a commanding 21-11 lead at the end of the first quarter. However, East Carolina’s Synia Johnson mounted a comeback in the second quarter, scoring eight of her 14 points to bring ECU within three points of Ohio State at halftime. But Ohio State bounced back in the second half, scoring 11 of the first 13 points to take a comfortable lead of 49-34 and maintained it throughout the game.

Rebeka Mikulasikova added another dimension to Ohio State’s offense with an impressive performance that included 12 points, while Cotie McMahon and Rikki Harris also chipped in with 11 each. On the other hand, East Carolina’s Johnson and Amiya Joyner were also instrumental in their team’s efforts, scoring an impressive total of 26 points between them.

Despite several technical fouls being called during the game, including an ejection for ECU’s Jade Tillman after a hard foul in the third quarter, Ohio State was able to maintain control throughout and emerge victorious in convincing fashion.
