Pritzker’s Travel to Moldova, Ukraine, and Romania as Special Representative for Ukraine’s Economic Recovery

On April 1, Special Representative for Ukraine’s Economic Recovery, Penny Pritzker, began her trip to three different countries in Eastern Europe. Her first stop was Chișinău, Moldova, where she met with President Maia Sandu, Prime Minister Dorin Recean, and private sector representatives to discuss the potential role of Moldova as a launching pad for Ukraine’s economic recovery. The discussions also focused on U.S.-Moldovan cooperation on regional economic integration and ways to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship in Ukraine’s thriving IT sector.

On April 2, Special Representative Pritzker traveled to Lviv, Ukraine, where she met with Mayor Andriy Sadovyi and technology entrepreneurs about community-driven recovery efforts across the country. She highlighted the importance of supporting small businesses and startups in strengthening economic bonds between Ukraine and the United States.

Finally, on April 3, Special Representative Pritzker will visit Bucharest, Romania to meet with Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu and government ministers about Romania’s contributions to regional cooperation. Discussions will revolve around emergency energy assistance provided by Romania to Ukraine during the war as well as long-term benefits of infrastructure investments for both Romania and Ukraine. She will also visit the RomExpo Refugee Center in Bucharest to speak with Ukrainian refugees about their experiences and their role in Ukraine’s recovery process.
