The government has approved a compensation plan for former Minister of Defense Marij Banožić, granting him the full ministerial salary for the next six months and half of that salary for the six months following. The decision was confirmed by Banski dvor, which approved the compensation in response to a request from Banožić’s lawyer.
Banožić’s net salary in his former role was 2,740 euros. In addition to his financial compensation, the government has also granted him immunity from prosecution for any crimes committed during his time as Minister of Defense.
Banožić’s lawyer recently withdrew a request for the activation and suspension of his parliamentary mandate due to personal reasons, using a power of attorney. As a result, the Mandate and Immunity Committee’s session, which was scheduled to discuss and decide on the request, was cancelled. Previously, the MIP had expressed their readiness to comply with the lawyer’s request to activate Banožić and then suspend his parliamentary mandate after reviewing the documentation.
