Temporary Closure of Spot Coffee on East Ave. Due to Health Code Violations

Rochester’s popular coffee shop, Spot Coffee, has been ordered to close its doors by the Monroe County Health Dept. on Feb. 9. The health department issued the order due to a number of health code violations listed on their website. One of the critical violations was related to food from an “unapproved source, spoiled, adulterated on premises.” Other violations included issues such as food not being protected from potential sources of contamination and not having effective measures in place to control rodents and insects entering the restaurant.

A statement from Peter Kervin, District Operations Manager for Spot Coffee, stated that the company is taking the recent reports very seriously and has taken immediate action to address the issue. They are working with pest control services and implementing thorough cleaning and sanitation procedures to rectify the situation and prevent any future occurrences of these violations. The company is committed to meeting and exceeding all health and safety standards and appreciates the community’s understanding and patience as they work through this matter. There was no immediate word on when Spot will reopen its doors.
