Local community rallies around Peoria business in response to support request

The Popcorn Shoppe, a small business located at the Metro Centre, has been facing struggles due to the slow winter season. Owners Matt George and Niki Duckworth revealed that this period has resulted in a significant decrease in sales, making it challenging to pay employees, afford rent or buy inventory.

The owners urged the community to support the business by sharing their post on social media, which received an overwhelming response. Over 500 reactions and 2,000 shares were recorded, and other local businesses like Big Mike’s Donuts & Coffee offered their support.

Despite these challenges, The Popcorn Shoppe continues to offer a wide range of gourmet popcorn flavors, lemon shake-ups, freeze-dried candy and other treats. The business invites customers to take advantage of their specials and collaborate on fundraising events.

After receiving an incredible amount of support from the community, The Popcorn Shoppe provided an update expressing their gratitude for the outpouring of support while also emphasizing the need for continued assistance to stabilize their business.

The business’ call for help has not gone unheard, and their story has resonated with the local community, demonstrating how small businesses can come together to overcome challenges and succeed.
