US Minister Lloyd Austin Hospitalized in Intensive Care for Another Time

The U.S. Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, has been hospitalized in the intensive care unit at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Virginia for a bladder problem. The Pentagon announced this, adding that it is not yet clear how long she will remain in hospital. Austin was initially diagnosed with prostate cancer last December and underwent surgery. However, her recent secret hospitalization raised controversy in the U.S., even keeping it hidden from President Joe Biden for a time.

Austin’s bladder problem forced her to be re-hospitalized on January 1st due to complications from her previous surgery. Her duties were temporarily transferred to her deputy, Kathleen Hicks while she received medical attention at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. This news has sparked concerns about Austin’s health and well-being, as well as questions about why the initial diagnosis of prostate cancer was not disclosed earlier.
