Extended intersection closure causes frustration for Saginaw businesses

Saginaw’s Hand Dipped Ice Cream shop is facing challenges due to the unexpected closure of Sheridan Avenue and Hess Avenue intersection. The construction on the street started on Monday, March 25 and is expected to last until August 9. This has caused concerns among both commuters and businesses located at the intersection, including Fred Temple, an employee at Hand Dipped Ice Cream.

Temple was shocked to find hard hats and orange barrels when he arrived at work on Monday. He believes that the closure will impact the flow of traffic and deter customers from visiting the shop, especially during upcoming Fourth of July celebrations. Despite these challenges, Temple is still encouraging people to visit Hand Dipped Ice Cream for their delicious treats. Along with ice cream, the shop also offers tacos and tostadas for customers to enjoy.

In addition to this closure, Gratiot Avenue (M-46) is also closed between Malzahn Street and Wheeler Street for utility work until Friday afternoon, March 29. The combination of these closures is creating disruptions for businesses and residents in Saginaw. However, Temple remains hopeful that customers will continue to support his family-owned business during this difficult time.
