Just Walk Out technology is being removed by Amazon from its Fresh grocery stores in the US

Amazon Fresh stores are undergoing changes as the company removes its Just Walk Out technology and replaces it with smart carts that allow customers to skip the checkout line while viewing their spending in real-time. This move is part of an effort to revamp the grocery chain based on customer feedback. The company, which operates dozens of Fresh stores across the country, has been working to find the right formula for physical grocery since its foray into this sector has presented some challenges.

The new smart carts will offer customers a cashier-free shopping experience, but they will also provide more transparency and control over their spending. Customers can track their expenses as they shop and make adjustments if necessary. This shift in technology at Amazon Fresh stores aims to meet the needs and preferences of shoppers who want more convenience and control over their shopping experience.

While Just Walk Out technology will no longer be available in Amazon Fresh stores, it will still be offered in Amazon Go stores and some smaller Amazon Fresh stores in the U.K., as well as to third-party retailers. This move reflects Amazon’s commitment to providing innovative solutions that enhance the shopping experience for its customers.
