Meghan Musnicki, the final connection to the eight dynasty: U.S. Olympic rowing team roster announced

Meghan Musnicki, a two-time gold medalist and the oldest American woman on the U.S. Olympic rowing team for Paris, has been announced as part of the first 21 rowers named. Musnicki is one of 12 women who will be placed in either the four boat or the eight boat, according to U.S. Rowing.

The rest of the Olympic team members named on Monday include Nina Castagna, who is set to take over as coxswain of the women’s eight. Castagna will follow in the footsteps of other Washington Huskies who have coxed the women’s eight in previous Olympics.

Musnicki has been a key member of the U.S. women’s eight dynasty that dominated from 2006 to 2016, winning every Olympic and world title during that time. She is nicknamed “Moose” and has been a part of multiple gold medal-winning teams. She has competed in four Olympics and is looking to tie the American record for most Olympic rowing appearances.

Additional rowers will qualify for the Paris Games through the Olympic Trials in Sarasota and an international qualifying regatta in Lucerne, Switzerland. The rest of the U.S. Rowing team includes athletes competing in various events such as men’s double sculls, lightweight double sculls and more.
