The latest developments in men’s basketball have caused some changes in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll. Purdue has jumped to the number two spot, while Connecticut remains atop the rankings as defending champions. Both teams have continued to perform exceptionally well and have received a high number of No. 1 votes for their efforts.
Houston has also climbed back to third place, with just 12 points separating them from Marquette in fourth place and North Carolina in fifth. Arizona and Kansas have both seen movements in the rankings, with Arizona moving up to sixth position and Kansas dropping down to seventh.
The top 10 is rounded out by Duke, Tennessee, and Iowa State. South Carolina is making a strong case for inclusion in the top 10 after jumping nine places, while Kentucky and Wisconsin are falling further down the rankings after losing four and five spots respectively.
Indiana State has made an impressive entrance into the poll at number 24, marking their first ranking since their historic 1979 season. Saint Mary’s, Oklahoma, Virginia, and Colorado State have also regained positions in the rankings after falling off earlier. On the other hand, Utah State, San Diego State, New Mexico, Florida Atlantic, and Texas Tech are among those who have dropped out of the rankings recently.
