Two men from the Los Angeles area apprehended following a robbery at an El Paseo establishment

A short pursuit led to the arrest of two men from the Los Angeles area after a theft at a business in Palm Desert. The incident occurred on a Monday at around 5:30 p.m., when deputies responded to a report of grand theft at a business on the 73000 block of El Paseo.

Upon arrival, the deputies discovered that two men had entered the business, concealed merchandise on themselves and left without paying. They then fled in a white, newer-model Lexus. The investigation was taken over by the Palm Desert Special Enforcement Team (SET) and the Palm Desert Business District Team (BDT).

The suspects were located at a shopping center in La Quinta at around 8:35 p.m. They attempted to flee but were apprehended after a brief pursuit. The stolen items, along with suspected stolen wine bottles and medication, were recovered by deputies from inside their vehicle.

Both men were booked into the John Benoit Detention Center for grand theft and felony evading. The investigation is still ongoing, and anyone with information about the theft or the recovered items is urged to contact Deputy Hindiyeh or Deputy Botella at the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station.
