Downtown Orrville Business Seeks Permission to Offer Tattoo Services in Salon

In Orrville, tattoo and body piercing shops are now being considered for addition to the downtown area. A proposal has been made to include these businesses, with a public hearing scheduled to discuss the matter further. Genesis Beauty Salons are also looking to expand their services by offering microblading, a semi-permanent eyebrow process that is classified as a tattoo under Health Department regulations.

The request for microblading will be reviewed by the Orrville Planning Commission before undergoing a final decision by the City Council. Meanwhile, the council has approved the sale of approximately 4.9 acres to GMEG LLC for the construction of an industrial building near Hostetler Road.

Tattoo artists are now offering semi-permanent freckle tattoos on clients’ faces in order to achieve a natural, sun-kissed look. However, some people have expressed concerns that these freckle tattoos may age poorly and be compared to “tramp stamps.”

Safety-Service Director Steve Wheeler has assured the community that the city is prepared for the upcoming total solar eclipse, with plans in place for potential traffic management and additional staff availability. The next council meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Monday, April 15 at City Hall where further discussions on these matters will take place.
