NVIDIA Corporation has announced the launch of Israel-1, a powerful supercomputer designed for scientific research in the field of artificial intelligence. Access to the computer is currently limited to company employees only. Once completed, Israel-1 will be one of the most powerful supercomputers in Israel and in the world, with a performance of 8 exaflops for AI and 130 petaflops for other scientific work.
NVIDIA’s CEO, Jensen Huang, stated that Israel is home to some of the leading AI researchers and developers who are developing tools that will power the next wave of AI advancements. The company plans to create Israel-1 by the end of this year using 2048 NVIDIA H100 80GB GPUs and 2560 BlueField-3 DPU processors developed in Israel by Mellanox. These switches are said to improve the performance of AI platforms by 70%.
The Israeli government has invested heavily in this project as they see its potential impact on various industries such as healthcare, transportation, and finance. With its advanced technology and cutting-edge features, Israel-1 is poised to revolutionize scientific research and push boundaries in AI development.
