JT Boe successfully defends his World Championship Pursuit title

Norway’s Johannes Thingnes Boe has won the Gold medal at the IBU World Championships Men’s 12.5 km Pursuit for the second year in a row. After three early penalties, Boe cleaned the final standing stage to secure his victory, with a time of 32:36.9.

Boe expressed that winning this medal was a dream come true and that he had not thought it was within reach. He mentioned that the presence of wind and nerves made the final two shots challenging, but he was able to focus and aim towards the center, ultimately securing his Gold medal.

The winner also credited his success to having great skis again that day, as well as his improving shape. He admitted that he did not feel like a favorite before the World Championships but said he is getting better and better with each race.

Norway swept the podium once again in this event, with Sturla Holm Laegreid winning Silver and Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen taking Bronze. This was Christiansen’s first individual IBU WCH medal prior to this weekend.
