Betting now allowed on badminton, volleyball, and wrestling

In Indiana, sports wagering enthusiasts now have the ability to expand their betting options beyond traditional favorites such as football, basketball, and baseball. The Indiana Gaming Commission has announced that sportsbooks in the state are now permitted to accept bets on professional badminton, beach volleyball, and college wrestling. Specifically, wagers are allowed on the BWF (badminton) World Tour, the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour, and NCAA Division I wrestling according to the IGC’s Approved Events for Sports Wagering list. This marks the first time that betting on non-Olympic badminton and wrestling is permitted at Indiana sportsbooks.

While sports wagering operators are not required to offer wagers on the new leagues, some may choose to provide multiple betting opportunities on games or individual events, including in-game wagers. The new additions bring the total number of event categories approved for sports wagering in Indiana to 32, spanning from Aussie Rules Football to World Jai-Alai. Some categories include various sports within them, such as the 25 different Summer Olympic events and trials eligible for betting during the Paris games.

In addition to traditional sports like football and basketball, Hoosiers can now also bet on activities that fall under the broadest definition of “sport,” including events like the July 4 Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest and category winners at the Academy Awards. Adults aged 21 and up can visit any of Indiana’s 13 state-regulated casinos or use a computer or mobile device to place bets from anywhere in the state using one of more than a dozen mobile sports wagering operators affiliated with Indiana casinos such as DraftKings and FanDuel.
