New College Basketball Crown Tournament from Fox Sports Set to Debut in 2025 as NIT Rival

The 16-team College Basketball Crown tournament, presented by Fox Sports, will be held from March 31, 2025 to April 6 in the MGM Garden Arena and MGM Arena in Las Vegas. AEG is a presenting sponsor of this event that will be broadcasted on both Fox and FS1. This tournament will consist of schools that did not qualify for the men’s NCAA Tournament, with automatic bids going to two squads from the Big Ten, Big 12, and Big East conferences, all of which have television agreements with the network. The remaining teams will be at-large participants.

Unlike previous years, some teams opted out of participating in the NIT this year in order to focus on the transfer portal. However, the NIT remains an important consolation tournament for teams that missed out on the NCAAs. This year’s NIT final will take place on ESPN and feature a matchup between Indiana State and Seton Hall.
