James Madison redshirt juniors Davide Materazzi and Demitri Turner have been named to the College Sports Communicators Division I Men’s Soccer Academic All-District Team. To be eligible for this honor, athletes must have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.50 and have started in 66% or competed in 90% of all matches.

Materazzi, who is currently studying sport management at JMU, earned his bachelor’s degree with a cumulative GPA of 3.579 while attending Davis & Elkins. This season, he has started all 19 matches and scored two goals while helping anchor the team’s defense.

Turner, a quantitative finance major with a 3.762 GPA, has also started all 19 matches this season and scored his first career goal against Coastal Carolina. He has accumulated a total of seven points so far this season.

JMU will travel to Los Angeles to face off against No. 25 Loyola Marymount in the round of 16 on Saturday, November 25 at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT. The match will be streamed on ESPN+, with the winner advancing to play the winner of fifth-seeded West Virginia and Vermont in the quarterfinals.
