Las Vegas businesses receive nearly $1 million to enhance security measures, applications still open for those in need

In recent years, the city of Las Vegas has been investing heavily in security measures for local businesses. The Business Security Grant Program has already distributed nearly $1 million in funding to help businesses improve their security. Eligible businesses can receive up to $10,000 to cover expenses such as lighting, security cameras, locks, and more.

Recent break-ins at local businesses have emphasized the importance of proper security measures. Tacotarian, a recipient of the grant, used the funding to upgrade their camera system and successfully identified the perpetrators of a recent break-in. However, they acknowledge that cameras alone are not enough for complete security.

Since its launch in March 2021, over $750,000 has been awarded to 79 businesses in Las Vegas through the Business Security Grant Program. Recipients like Chops Barbershop and 18bin have used the funding for various security enhancements such as new locks, lighting, and camera systems to deter theft and improve public safety.

There is still approximately $250,000 in funding available for eligible businesses within Las Vegas city limits. Interested businesses can apply for the grants through a provided link after submitting an application and meeting eligibility criteria. Once approved, businesses receive funds via check after a formal agreement is reached within about 30 days.
