The Family Science Week showcase event at the MTU Kerry North Campus was a hit over the weekend, as seen in photos by Domnick Walsh. At the event, Aliyah Bruse and Rebekah Landy were captured having a great time, while 10-year-old Eoin McMillan got into the scientific spirit. Daithi Nolan was also photographed enjoying himself, along with Keely Flaherty and Lily Walsh who were pictured with the Nutty Scientist, Robert Cooke.
One of the highlights of the showcase was when TY student Muireann Hussey from Mercy Mounthawk in Tralee tested Daithi Nolan’s skin. Sisters August Culhane and Sheeryn Culhane were also photographed at the event, while six-year-olds Keelan Wren, Aidan Nkomo, and Jayden Duma enjoyed the VR experience.
The showcase featured a wide variety of activities, including VR experiences, scientific testing, robotics, weather forecasting, electric vehicle displays, sustainable food making, zoology, book readings, children’s sustainable recycling workshops and slime experiments. Organizers described it as a fantastic day of free entertainment that left children in awe of the range of activities available to them.
The showcase was just one of many events happening over the weekend at MTU’s North Campus in Tralee. Check out our photo gallery for more snapshots from the event.
