In men’s college basketball, the transfer portal is once again providing a shakeup in the rankings. For the Win’s Bryan Kalbrosky has identified several players to keep an eye on as they enter the NCAA tournament.

There was minimal change near the top of the USA TODAY Sports men’s basketball coaches poll, with Kansas remaining No. 1 and Purdue holding steady at No. 2. However, there were some notable additions to the rankings, including Gonzaga moving up to No. 9 and Florida Atlantic falling out of the top 25 after a loss to Bryant.

As we approach holiday tournaments like the Maui Invitational, which features half of the top 10 teams, it will be interesting to see how things reshuffle. The Jayhawks and Boilermakers are both participating in this loaded field, along with Marquette and Tennessee. UCLA is also in Honolulu and capable of making waves in the rankings.

In addition to these established teams, there are several newcomers to watch as well. Colorado has joined the rankings at No. 21, while Memphis and Mississippi State have also entered at No. 23 and No. 25 respectively. These three newcomers have created four dropouts from last week’s tie for 25th between UCLA and Virginia, including Arkansas, Southern California, Villanova, and Saint Mary’s.

Overall, it will be fascinating to see how these newcomers perform in tournament play and whether they can make an impact on the rankings as well as on their respective teams’ chances for success come March Madness time!
