In the second half, the Bills offense has been able to find success in the end zone after initially relying on field goals. With 6:29 left in the third quarter, Josh Allen scored his third touchdown of the day with a connection to Khalil Shakir, extending their lead against the Jets to 29-6. On the play, Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner tried to intercept the ball but missed, allowing Shakir to break through for an impressive 81-yard touchdown. This marked the longest play from scrimmage in the NFL season so far.
Before scoring this long touchdown pass, Allen also found success on a drive that began in the second half and resulted in him connecting with running back Ty Johnson for a touchdown. In his first game under interim offensive coordinator Joe Brady calling the plays, Allen has completed 19-of-29 passes for 273 yards.
With only minutes remaining in the third quarter and facing a significant deficit, it seems that the Jets are struggling to keep up with their opponent’s offensive prowess and make a comeback in this game.
