Jon Stewart has made a triumphant return to “The Daily Show,” and he couldn’t be happier. On his first day back, he used his monologue to tackle the age of the two presidential candidates, particularly President Joe Biden. While he expressed skepticism about the praise Biden’s allies have given him, he also pointed out that Trump regularly says things that would warrant a wellness check at his own rallies.
Stewart didn’t shy away from criticizing both candidates in equal measure. He took aim at Biden’s press-conference gaffes and TikTok videos, while also referencing the deeply unflattering special-counsel report that has called his memory into question. However, he was quick to point out the specific ways in which Biden is not like Trump.
In fact, Stewart dedicated much of his monologue to highlighting the many differences between the two men. He pointed out their contrasting personalities and leadership styles, as well as their vastly different legal troubles. While some commentators may have seen Stewart equating the aging president with his opponent, he made it clear that this was not his intention. Instead, he felt it was important to scrutinize both candidates even more heavily given the stakes of the election.
