Gallant discussed issues of military collaboration and strengthening the air capacity of the Israeli army during his second day of meetings in the United States. He also met with Director of Central Intelligence William J. Burns, who participated in negotiations between Israel and Hamas in Doha last week. Tensions between the two allies have been strained due to pressure from the White House, with Washington urging Israel to reduce the intensity of its offensive on Gaza to minimize civilian suffering.
