Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay has announced the release of linebacker Shaquille Leonard. The team expressed gratitude for Leonard’s contributions during his six years with the Colts, as he was a second-round pick in 2018 and won defensive rookie of the year, as well as being named a first-team All-Pro.

Leonard, who has suffered back injuries and experienced a decrease in playing time, posted a farewell message on social media expressing his love and appreciation for the city of Indianapolis and its fans. He thanked them for their support and encouragement throughout his time with the team.

Although saddened by his departure, Leonard is excited about the opportunity to explore new teams and sign a new contract elsewhere. He will be remembered as one of the most talented linebackers in Colts history and will always have a special place in the hearts of Indy fans.
