The Huskies of UConn have advanced to the final of the Empire Classic, setting up a potential matchup against Texas. Despite missing starting point guard Stephon Castle, the Huskies defeated Indiana 77-57 in a strong showing.

UConn got off to a slow start, but Alex Karaban and Tristen Newton helped build a double-digit lead, finishing the first half with a 37-30 advantage. Newton scored 23 points, had 11 rebounds, and six assists, while Karaban finished with 13 points.

In the second half, Cam Spencer contributed 18 points, five rebounds, and two assists, helping UConn maintain its lead. Donovan Clingan faced challenges but finished with seven points, nine rebounds, and two blocked shots. The trio of Spencer, Clingan, and Newton sealed the game with a 10-0 run after Indiana’s Malik Renault fouled out.

Solo Ball started in place of the injured Stephon Castle and scored nine points on 4-of-10 shooting in 26 minutes. UConn outperformed Indiana with a 45% shooting percentage compared to 38% and dominated the rebounding battle, leading 44-22.
