Ferrari and SK On collaborate to enhance cell technology

Italian sports car maker Ferrari and electric vehicle battery maker SK On, affiliated with SK Group, announced on Wednesday a partnership to drive innovation in battery cell technology. The memorandum of understanding was signed at SK’s headquarters building in Seoul on Tuesday, with SK On CEO Lee Seok-hee and Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna present at the event.

SK On has been an exclusive battery supplier to Ferrari since 2019, providing battery cells for the company’s plug-in hybrid electric vehicles such as the SF90 Stradale, SF90 Spider, 296 GTB, and 296 GTS. The collaboration between the two companies aims to continue pushing the boundaries of innovation in the field of electric vehicle technology. By leveraging their respective expertise, they plan to expand their technological collaboration and exchange valuable insights.

Lee expressed excitement about joining Ferrari’s electrification journey and highlighted the goal of offering customers new experiences and values through the partnership. He said that he believes shared ideas drive shared progress when companies and suppliers work together. Similarly, Ferrari CEO Vigna emphasized high expectations for the collaboration, expressing his belief that it is essential for companies to work together to achieve common goals in this field.
