Sumter police are investigating more than $100,000 in damages to sports complex

In an effort to identify the individual(s) responsible for vandalizing a sports complex and causing over $100,000 in damages, the Sumter Police Department is actively seeking information. A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for any tips that lead to an arrest in this case.

The vandalism occurred sometime after the complex closed at 8 p.m. on Sunday and was discovered the following morning at Patriot Park. The damage included graffiti made with black paint that was taken from the park’s storage area, as well as equipment, electronics, heating and air conditioning units, computers, camera/security systems, concession stand supplies and restrooms all affected by the vandalism.

They have pledged to repair and clean up the damage and have shown support for law enforcement’s efforts to find those responsible for the vandalism.
