The downtown area of Bainbridge is home to over 125 small businesses, which collectively provide employment opportunities for around 500 people. Despite the presence of these businesses, concerns have been raised about the number of vacancies on North West Street. In order to attract more customers and boost sales, local businesses are working together to promote their stores and increase foot traffic in the area.
One way that residents can support small businesses in Bainbridge is by spreading the word about them through word-of-mouth advertising. This involves sharing information about local businesses with friends and family members, encouraging others to shop there as well. By doing so, residents can help keep these small businesses open and thriving.
Factory Connection is just one business that is seeking community support in this way. Assistant manager Kristin Smith expressed concerns about the store being overlooked due to its location on the outskirts of downtown, despite being located right in the heart of the city. To address this issue, Smith and her team at Factory Connection have been working hard to find creative ways to promote their store and attract more customers. They’ve launched social media campaigns, participated in community events, and even partnered with other local businesses to cross-promote each other’s products.
The Bainbridge-Decatur County Chamber of Commerce has also been actively engaging with local businesses to encourage community support for them. One example of this is their recent social media campaign encouraging locals to share posts about their favorite small businesses using a specific hashtag. This strategy proved effective for 6J Scrubs during its grand opening last year, helping it generate buzz and attract new customers through word-of-mouth advertising.
In addition to social media campaigns, the Downtown Development Authority offers grants and low-interest loans to help small business owners finance their projects and grow their businesses. However, they recognize that there is still a need for these entrepreneurs to come up with innovative ways to attract customers and increase foot traffic in their stores. To achieve this goal, they’re encouraging business owners to reach out to resources like the National Small Business Association, as well as join groups like the Downtown Development Authority or local chambers of commerce for additional guidance and support.
