Commanders ink deal with linebacker Mykal Walker

The Commanders have welcomed back a familiar face to their lineup as they kick off their offseason program. Linebacker Mykal Walker signed with the franchise on Tuesday, bringing valuable experience and skills to the team.

Walker previously played for the Falcons as a fourth-round pick in 2020, during Dan Quinn’s tenure as head coach. Over his first three seasons, he appeared in 49 games with 20 starts before being waived by Atlanta last August. Walker then had stints with Chicago and Las Vegas before joining the Steelers midway through the 2023 season.

During his time with the Steelers, Walker appeared in eight games with five starts, tallying 33 total tackles with two for loss. He also showcased his versatility by recording two passes defensed and an interception.

The Commanders hope that Walker’s familiarity with Coach Quinn will help him acclimate quickly to the team as they prepare for the upcoming season. The addition of Walker brings a fresh perspective and new ideas to the team, which is crucial in building success on and off the field.
