Chiefs sign Clyde Edwards-Helaire to one-year contract

Clyde Edwards-Helaire has announced that he will be staying with the Kansas City Chiefs for the upcoming 2024 season, after coming to an agreement on a one-year contract. This news comes following the Chiefs’ decision not to exercise their fifth-year option on his contract last spring. Despite this setback, Edwards-Helaire still managed to have a standout performance in Super Bowl LVIII, accumulating 411 yards from scrimmage on just 87 touches.

Over the course of his 48 games with 32 starts, Edwards-Helaire has amassed an impressive total of 1,845 rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns. He has also caught a remarkable 89 passes for a total of 765 yards and seven TDs.

In addition to re-signing Edwards-Helaire, the Chiefs are reportedly bringing in running back J.K. Dobbins for a visit on Tuesday. It remains uncertain whether this signing will impact their pursuit of Dobbins, who recently met with the Los Angeles Chargers as well.
