Virat Kohli responds to Ravi Shastri’s remarks on his T20 WC squad selection: I may be known for promotion, but I still have what it takes | Cricket News

Virat Kohli is confident in his abilities to play T20 cricket on a global scale. In response to comments made by his former coach Ravi Shastri regarding his potential inclusion in the upcoming T20 World Cup squad, Kohli expressed his belief that he can promote the sport worldwide. This was reinforced during a recent match where he scored 77 runs against Punjab Kings and earned the player of the match award.

Kevin Pietersen also weighed in on the importance of players like Kohli in promoting T20 cricket globally. During a commentary session for the Gujarat Titans vs Mumbai Indians match, Pietersen suggested that the T20 World Cup in the USA could benefit greatly from players like Kohli who can help grow the sport on a global scale. However, Shastri disagreed with this perspective and emphasized the importance of winning the competition and advocated for a youthful and dynamic approach similar to the victorious 2007 T20 World Cup squad.

Despite being dismissed while attempting a big shot, Kohli’s impressive performance in front of an enthusiastic Chinnaswamy crowd was crucial in securing a 4-wicket victory for RCB. His inning of 77 runs off 49 balls, which included 11 fours and 2 sixes, showcased his talent and made a strong case for his selection in the Indian team for the 2024 T20 World Cup in June.
