Bodvarsson and Jerome are set to depart from Bolton

Bolton Wanderers have announced that Iceland striker Jon Dadi Bodvarsson, 31, and Wales international Declan John, 28, will be leaving the club at the end of their contracts next month. The club was recently beaten by Oxford in the League One play-off final.

Bodvarsson joined Bolton in January 2022 and scored 25 goals in 94 appearances, including 10 goals in 46 games this season. Jerome signed an 18-month contract with the club in January 2023 and scored just once in his first 49 games before netting in successive matches last month.

On the other hand, Bolton have decided to trigger extension clauses in the contracts of goalkeeper Luke Hutchinson and midfielder Nelson Khumbeni. Hutchinson is a promising young talent who has been with the club since he was just six years old. He made his debut for Bolton at the age of just 17 and has been a regular presence between the sticks ever since.

Khumbeni is another young player who has impressed during his time at Bolton. He spent last season on loan at Morecambe but returned to Bolton as soon as he was recalled due to his impressive performances while on loan. Khumbeni has become a key part of Bolton’s midfield over the past few seasons and will be a valuable asset for years to come.
