Bethesda confirms The Elder Scrolls IV is still in development and marks the saga’s 30th anniversary

Bethesda recently marked the 30th anniversary of The Elder Scrolls video game franchise, using the occasion to provide an update on progress of the latest installment, The Elder Scrolls 6. While details about the game have been scarce since its announcement at the E3 event in 2018, Bethesda has shared a letter detailing the history of the series and offering some insights into the upcoming title.

The new installment is still in its early stages of development, but Bethesda expressed excitement about returning to Tamriel and playing a fresh take on the first versions of the game. The saga, which began with Arena in 1994, has evolved over time with games like Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim – the latter winning Best Game at The Game Awards in 2011.

Bethesda has also branched out into other gaming genres, releasing titles such as The Elder Scrolls Online and The Elder Scrolls: Blades for mobile devices. In addition to these projects, they are currently working on The Elder Scrolls: Castles – a castle-building game for smartphones.

As they celebrate their 30th anniversary, Bethesda expressed gratitude to their fans for their support over the years and looked forward to continuing the franchise for another 30 years. Along with teasing The Elder Scrolls 6, they also announced updates and new projects in the mobile gaming world. Bethesda remains committed to delivering engaging and innovative gaming experiences to their players.
