In November 11th, Bayside Soccer hosted its first soccer tournament at the Hannahville Ice and Turf sports complex in Wells. The tournament featured three divisions of play for 12U, 14U, and 16U, with teams from Iron Mountain’s 906 FC, Houghton FC, and Bayside Soccer and its affiliate Delta United Soccer Academy participating.
The goal of the organizers was to create a fun and competitive tournament for players while raising funds for the high school team. Amy Blahnik, who organized the event, said: “This is our first time hosting a tournament, and we look forward to having more in the spring and next fall.”
The games were played in a round-robin style, with three-on-three matches. The top two teams at the end of group play had a playoff for first place. 906 FC won the 12U group, Houghton FC Red won the 14U, and the 16U winners were from Bayside – Delta United Soccer Academy.
Bayside Soccer was established in 1996 to provide recreational soccer for the region. Their programs include summer recreation soccer and a High School Club program that competes regionally. They focus on player development, teamwork, and positive coaching.
