Amish woman’s murderer convicted thanks to Nike shoes in USA

The Amish community in the United States was stunned by a heinous crime that took place in Pennsylvania, the heart of their religious community. On February 26, 2024, Rebekah Byler, a 23-year-old pregnant woman, was discovered dead in her home in Spartansburg. Her husband, Andy Byler, discovered her body with a gunshot wound to the head. Sadly, their unborn child did not survive, but their two other children, aged 2 and 3, were unharmed.

After several days of investigation, the police arrested Shawn Cranston, a 52-year-old trucker, as a suspect in the murder. Several pieces of evidence pointed to him as the perpetrator. The victim’s husband had seen a suspicious man in their garden days before the murder, described as bald with a white beard and driving a red car similar to Cranston’s wife’s Jeep. Furthermore, the victim’s son witnessed the murder and mentioned seeing a man wearing sneakers at the crime scene.

Further evidence implicated Cranston in the crime. Videos placed him near the crime scene on the day of the murder and items from the Amish home were found in his possession when he was arrested. Although DNA evidence is still being analyzed, police found disposable rubber gloves in Cranston’s home when he was arrested. Firearms were confiscated when he was arrested; however, it is unclear if they found his weapon used for this terrible crime. Cranston is part of a rocker gang and is currently being held awaiting trial.
