The Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip has condemned the Israeli forces for tightening their siege on the Indonesian Hospital, located in the north of the enclave. The authorities have stated that they do not have any guarantees about safe corridors to evacuate patients and have warned that Israel could commit any stupidity against those being evacuated.
The spokesman for the Gaza Ministry of Health, Ashraf al Qidra, has expressed concern that Israel could use the wounded as human shields, as it did in Al Shifa Hospital. He also pointed out that 700 people are being held in the hospital facilities, including nearly 260 “wounded and sick.” Qidra noted that there is no news about the evacuation work at Al Shifa Hospital and reiterated that these people are in a tragic situation without water, electricity or food.
The general director of the Gaza Ministry of Health, Munir al Bursh, has also stated that it has been impossible to remove or count the dead from Israel’s attacks on the Indonesian Hospital and has added that several buildings in the complex have been destroyed. He lamented that many people tried to leave the hospital but were attacked by Israeli troops. Bursh indicated that more than 100 patients need urgent surgeries with limited medical staff. He argued that Israel’s attacks on the hospital seek to end all health services in northern Gaza.
The attacks on both hospitals have been condemned by various international leaders and organizations, including Indonesia’s Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi who called them “a clear violation of International Humanitarian Law.” Marsudi urged all countries with close relations with Israel to use their influence and capabilities to call on Israel to end its atrocities.
